BRANCH CAPTAINS

The duties of a Branch Captain are to help collect and organize Latta family history information on that particular branch. You would be like a research coordinator, collecting and sharing your branch's information. Beginning with the data that you have located, you would start a gedcom file with the genealogy software program on your computer. Then you would add to it any information received from a fellow branch member. Also, when a fellow branch member is in need of more information on his branch, you would share that information from your gedcom file. However, your files should not contain any information about living persons to protect their privacy.

Also, when there are significant issues to address for the Latta genealogy community as a whole, you as a Branch Captain would function like a member of the board of directors. You would contribute ideas and discussion to help. Your vote would be crucial in making important decisions.

When the webmaster wishes to update our Latta website, you as Branch Captain would provide the most complete and up to date genealogical information on your branch. Also, the Branch Captain would keep in touch with other captains and the webmaster by e-mail.

Another goal of our Latta Family is to find a branch captain for every branch of the Latta Family. Unfortunately, we do not have a Captain for every Branch. We could use some more volunteers.
