May the 8 1844 Dear brothr and Sister I take through the blessing of kind providence we are at well at present hoping these lines will find you enjoying the same blessing I reseived a leter fre brother Johns Widow dated aprile the 8 huse and famly was all Well and sister katherin Huyeys family was Well My son thuan Thomas left home March the 25 bound for your Contry he allowed to go on steamboat at pittsburg hecalculatd going by the ohio riverto the moth of the Wabash river and go by it to the cannel and go by it to Fort Wain and from thence to you and hispriat the hawpatch and he Was to write to us as soon as possible When he Would knom how you Ware all and Would pay a guile on the land and we have been looking for a letter from him the 13 of aprile and that three tim a Week ever since and has never got anny yet. We are afraid that he never got ther and if he did We Wish him to Write as soon as possible and if he is not thire I Wish you to Write and letus know if you heard any thing of him as We are getting verry uneasy abought him for fear som eseident has happened him No' I send my best resepects to all the friends [to] Robert Latta Esqr [from] Samuel Latta
