In the Will of: 1 John (1) Latta, dated 1823, he mentions
four sons-in-law, Robert Walker, Robert Davis, William Faucette and Thomas Holloway,
Jr. He does not mention son-in-law, James N. Ray or his daughter, Ann.
She would then be 51 years of age. Probably both were dead, leaving no issue or
they were given their inheritance before the will was made out. See Will below. See
Memorandum Book for deeds in Old Orange Co., N.C. Eleven Children:

stated
that

some of the Long's still live. I do not know whom he married, nor how many children

daughter of the aforesaid John Craig - son of William. The children of the union
were: Anderson, Thomas and "George". This last named George married a Miss Latta, and
their sons were Thomas, Robert, John and James D. The last named (James) still lives
on the original lands, and perpetuates the name, and is a stance Presbyterian. This
is the origin of the Long's in Orange County, N.C.

Cumberland, N.C. She died October 15, 1849. He went to Fayetteville, N.C.
later in life where he built a beautiful colonial house overlooking the creek and
park. He was a prosperous merchant there and an Elder in the Fayetteville First
Presbyterian Church, February 18, 1844. He went with his son, John Robert
Latta, to Wilmington, N.C. in 1845. A more handful formed the original
membership of the Wilmington Second Presbyterian Church. The record says
conspicuous among them were John C. Latta and John R. Latta.
{"In Fayetteville he made an assignment of a business interest in trust to his
cousin,
William Scarlett Latta". On this statement (1996 Note: I have know idea where it came
from) this family was moved from branch No.15 to Branch No. 7, by Robert H Latta in
the 1930's. But was he a 1st cousin or 2nd 3rd 4th ?.Also I have seen even today
people of the same surname call each other cousin and not know if they are. This
family seems to fit in this branch and so it will remain until I or some other finds
a record that will prove it should be removed.}
