HILDERBRAND JOHNSON

I am looking
for information on Allen LATTY, born in TN
in 1823. He migrated to the Cherokee
Nation, Indian Territory, date unknown, and
settled on a farm in the Canadian District,
near the town of Webbers Falls (Oklahoma),
I.T. He had three children, Joseph LATTY,
who married Louvenia JOHNSON, a Cherokee,
at the close of the Civil War. Joseph died
in 1896 at the age of 45. Mary Jane LATTY
married Jacob TATE and Lydia LATTY married
Reese HILDERBRAND, a Cherokee. We have no
records about Allen LATTY’s wife. He is on
the 1860 census, listed as “colored”, but
to the Cherokees, this could mean Oriental,
Black or some other Indian tribe not listed
as “civilized”. Any information would be
appreciated. |

LATTA b. GA 1857, d. 1892 in AR, (from the
information my grandfather has written, I
believe she was called Ellen), her siblings
included Martha, b. Dec 1858; Carlene
Rebecca, b. Oct 1868 and Andrew J. (Doc)
born Aug 1860. The 1880 Crawford Co AR
census says her parents were born in TN.
Sarah Ellen and her husband Bill
WHITTINGTON d. 1892 in AR, leaving 10
children. The younger children (about 7 of
them) were raised by Aunt Martha and Aunt
Becky LATTA and lived in the home of Doc
LATTA in OK. Doc eventually married, but no
name. This family was living in the
Talequah OK area. Does anyone have any
connections? |

shows 16 James(5) LATTA, born at or near
Londonderry, Ireland Aug. 10, 1817; d. Feb.
22, 1849; m. Phebe DOTY who was born about
1785 and d. Jan. 11, l832. They lived near
Lattasville, Ross Co., OH. There are 9
children listed. I am having trouble
justifying the dates of birth and death for
James and Phebe. Surely Phebe wasn’t 32
yrs. older than James. Does anyone have any
other dates for these two people?

there was a family reunion held. My Aunt
Nellie was invited, but was not able to

Rachel TODD (Branch 46, family 2). Wm. was
born in Ireland on the late 1750s and died
between 1824-1829. He settled in Chester
Co. PA but I am sure they moved on to ??? I
know they had 4 more children than Rachel.
This branch ties in with the TODD’s of PA
and NC. Rachel was a cousin to Mary Todd

that she was of Indian descendent and may
have been adopted by a family by the name
of SANDERS. She was married to Henry ‘Clay’
HARRINGTON and they had a son named Albert
Latty HERRINGTON. He was born around
1881-1883 in NM Indian Territory and is
said to have gotten his middle name from

LATTA d. 1899 in Petersburg, PA. He married
Minnie MERRITTS who d. 1914 in Tyrone, PA.
Known children: Verna LATTA b. 16 Apr 1890
in Broad Top, PA, d 3 Feb 1990 in Bedford,
PA. According to family notes William LATTA
was killed by a train. He had a son who
also was killed by a train at a young age.
Verna was sent to an orphanage at the age
of 12 when her mother remarried. She was
there for about one year, when an uncle had
taken her to raise. Any help with this
family would be greatly appreciated. |
