LATTA/ DICK I am seeking information for a library patron doing family history research. We are looking for information on Ephraim LATTA, born about 1832, who married Jane DICK. The DICK family was from Sewickley Township, PA. Any information regarding Ephraim would be greatly appreciated. Melissa Johnson, Librarian, Kirwin City Library, Kirwin, Kansas

Married John James LATTA born 2 Feb 1823 in Georgia, died in Grand Saline in 1913. Married between 1839-1872. Their daughter Ann Judson LATTA was my gr gr grandmother. LATTA/ SIGMAN My Dad's name was Kenneth A. LATTA and he was born in Wilcott, Indiana. His parents were Earnest A. LATTA and Eleanor G. SIGMAN LATTA. There were 2 or 3 sisters, one was named Wilma, not sure of the other names as they were placed into foster home and adopted out. My Dad was born May 31, 1930. He had had two older half-siblings, named Richard and Lucile, she passed away in 1950 and was supposed to have been in her 40's. I have been trying to get more information on both of my grandparents which has been hard with no birth date for my Grandmother or where she was born. All I know about my Grandfather is that he was older than my Grandmother and was born June 17, 1880 and he passed away 1943-44. My Dad was in a Boys Home at that time, and I know nothing about my GGrandfather or his Father. So, might anyone know of them or have come across some records of them, it would be great to know. Thanks. Donna Casey, P. O. Box 135, Hutchinson, KS 67504, babe5144@yahoo.com
LATTA/ SEEGAR Hi! Donna, I checked the 1900 U.S. Census for e.d. 65, Wayne Township, Warsaw, Kosciusko County, Indiana, and it lists Samuel L. LATTA with a son named Ernest W. LATTA born in Jne 1865, age 35, born in Indiana. Samuel L. LATTA is listed as born Jan. 1830 in Illinois. This is definately a Branch 1 person. Samuel L. LATTA was the brothre of my wife Karen's ancestor Robert SEEGAR LATTA. Also, look at the 1930 U.S. Census for Wolcott, White County, Indiana. E.D. 91-13, Sheet 2B. Your family is also listed there. It is obvious from the census that Earnest LATTA was married twice, as his son Richard was 21, and his wife Eleanor was 25. There is also a 1.5 year old daughter named Wilma. Earnest is listed as age 49, which would be born about 1881. The census was taken 3 April 1930. I think that is where I would have expected your family to be found in the census, as that is where your father was born in May 1930. This should help you tie into a whole line of Branch One LATTA ancestors on our website, www.latta.org. Your friend and editor, Ken Mueller
LATTA I found an article in the Republican Compiler, Gettysburg, PA dated Tues Aug 23, 1836. A Moses LATTA, age about 50, had committed suicide by hanging. He lived with his widowed mother and two sisters. Does anyone claim this man? Branch 27 was in Adams County, but I don't know who Moses was. He was born c 1786. Since Thomas LATTA only had two sons who lived to be adults, and John only left Hugh and Ephraim, that leaves Thomas Jr., and I know nothing about his progeny. Anyone? Ellen R. LATTA/ REISER In going through the new St. Paul's German Evangelical Church in Monroe County, OH, by Dr. Shirley Harmon, I found: ST. PAUL's, p 30: Olive REISER, adopted child of Mr. and Mrs. REISER, daughter of family named LATTA, was baptized on her confirmation day in the Lewisville church, 31 Mar 1902. Since my maiden name is LATTA and this is my great uncle's family, I wonder -- does anyone know the first name of these REISER's or anything about this family? I next looked in: MONROE COUNTY OHIO MARRIAGES 1867-1917: P 278 FIBER, Charles F. 32 Monroe, REISSER, Olive, 22 Monroe, Jacob & Elizabeth (HAAS) FIBER, John L. B. LATTA & _____ MOOSE 4 Sep 1907. Usually I see FIBER spelled FEIBER in Monroe Co records and did have the name of Mrs. Charles FEIBER in the obit for John L. B. LATTA (we have him as John Elba LATTA) but had not seen Olive's name before. But I have John's wife (Olive's mother) as Hannah SCHAFER. Does anyone know what, if anything happened to Hannah and why this little girl was given for adoption. I have John L. B.'s mother as Emily MOOSE and think that perhaps the child didn't know her mother's name when the parents names were given on the marriage application. Does anyone have information to help me? LATTA/ FORESTER In the 2001 Edition of the book ROOSEVELT AND HOPKINS -- AN INTIMATE HISTORY by Robert Sherwood on page 203 the following is reported: "The most important permanent White House Official was Executive Clerk, Randolph FORESTER, who with his assistant and successor, Maurice LATTA, was responsible for "the orderly handling of documents and correspondence" and the supervision of the large clerical staff. Both FORSTER and LATTA had been in the White House since the McKinley Administration." Do any one of you know anything more about Maurice LATTA or to which branch he is a member? LATTA I have received a request for information on Earl LATTA, b: 4/21/1893 in Niagraa Falls, NY. Born to 43 Willis Frazer (5) LATTA of RHL's Branch 4. Can anyone add to this? Thanks. Randy Phillips, Branch 4 Captain, 3303 Fergonson Corners Rd., Penn Yan NY 14527, Phillipsf2@aol.com
LATTA

STINEMEN

I am looking for information on a Robert Menzo Latta born 1868 that showed up on a farm in Wheat lands, an itinerant worker.  He married Mary Stinemen born 1875.  They had Ester, Robert Wallace, John Kenneth and Oscar Elsworth, Edna, Belle and Chester.  John Kenneth was my grandfather on my mothers side.  I am interested in family ties before Robert Menzo Latta. Especially country and area of family origin.  Thanks. Jay Wilhite, ewilhitern@yahoo.com
LATTA/ LATTEY/ LATTI In Monroe County, OH - LATTA was often pronounced LATTEY. When we visit, we still talk to people who knew the LATTEYS. The new death records CD from Monroe County, OH show: LATTI, Hannah, Mariah died 9 March 1890 in Center Twp; age 34y, 6 m, 17d; from consumption. Right above it is this entry: LATTI, Samuel Varner died 7 Mar 1890 in Center Twp; 21 days; from inflammation of the bowels. Hannah Mariah was the wife of John Elba or (L.B.) LATTA. She was originally a SHAFER. It seems very logical to me that it was her infant son that died 2 days before she did. Thank you. Betty Kitchen, bettykitchen@adelphia.net
LATTA/ GJOKAJ/ LATTIFAJ Hello everyone, I am brand new to the whole system. My name is Syzana Gjokaj and my maiden name was LATTIFAJ. There is a story in my family that we have Jewish roots. My family migrated from Albania around 1723 to Kosovo! The names of the people were Mark LATTA and Peter LATTA. Mark stayed in Kosovo whereas Peter left Balkans. I am trying so hard to find out where Peter's family is. Does anyone have a story that we can connect missing pieces. Please let me know. Syzana Gjokaj, Counselor Aide, Army Education Center, Camp Monteith, APO AE 09340 Phone # 782-7018, sysana.Gjokaj@monteith2, areur, army.mil
LATTA/ AYR TOWNSHIP I am looking for information on William LATTA of Ayr Township in Bedford County, PA. He is listed in the 1767, 1768, 1744 and 1775 tax list. This area became Cumberland County later. There is also a John LATTA, single freeman, and Moses LATTA, single freeman, listed in Peters Township for the 1768, 1769, 1770 taxes. John LATTA of Branch 17 shows up in the Brothers Valley Township of Bedford Co. taxes in 1772. I am wondering if he is the John LATTA, single freeman above. Would he and Moses be brothers? Sons of William? Does anyone have any other information about this area at that time? William LATTA was listed as a Justice of Bedford Co in 1774, and John LATTA was listed as a constable of Bedford Co. along the same time period. Sue Lattea Cox, Branch 17 Captain, latteacox@aol.com
LATTA/ KIRBY Hi, I am looking for an Elizabeth LATTA who was born May 4, 1805 in Maury, Tennessee.  She married a Hardy Cain KIRBY on December 11, 1827 in Maury, Tennessee. She died on March 6, 1887; however, my records don't say where. Elizabeth was listed in the 1880 census for McCalister, Hickman County, Kentucky, where she lived with her son and his family. On the census, it states that Elizabeth's father was born in North Carolina and her mother was born in Tennessee. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks. Carl Ripley, ripley@pldi.net
