END OF NOTE:   See additional information below. __________________________________________________________________________________

All of the information about this family Note-5 was sent sent in by; April 5, 1999 My Mother was a Latta (10 ESTHER ROSE (3) Latta) I have not been able to learn much. I am sending you what little I have. My folks settled in Ark. Around 1849/1850. They were in White County around Judsonia, Searcy & Bald Knob. They cut down trees from their boats when the land was flooded. Then went back in with ???? When the water went down. There were paddle boats up from the Mississippi. I was surprised to see in your Newsletter they were in Ireland. Maybe they were refugees from Europe. My Grandfather definitely stated he was Bohemian. I spoke to a woman from Bohemia and she said it was a common name there. My Grandfather, Wm E. Latta came to Oklahoma about 1904 when land was opened for settlement. They took land at Chandler Okla. When Oil was discovered at Bartlesville, he went there and worked as a Rig builder. He died there, his mother, Betty Venable Latta lived with him. One brother, Luther was also there. There were a lot of Bohemian's working at the ?etter there. Luther had children living there I know up until World War II, but when a relative tried to contact them, they got no response. The court house and school burned there. My mother had trouble getting a birth certificate. Marvin Latta was killed when a tornado wiped out Bald Knob, Ark. He had 4 sons who are all dead. ???? was questioned and knew nothing about the family.
